Content Tab
Edit a Composer widget's text, links, and media from Elementor's Content tab, bind fields to live data, and work with long field lists.
The Content tab in Elementor is where you edit a Composer widget's text, links, and media without touching code. Each field here is a slot, an editable piece of content UiChemy pulls from the design. See Slots for how they're created.
Opening the Content Tab
- Click any Composer widget in the Elementor editor. The left panel switches to Edit Composer, with Content, Style, and Advanced tabs.
- Stay on the Content tab.
- Your fields appear under three collapsible sections: Text, Links, and Media. Click a section name to open it.
How many fields you see depends on the design, a simple hero section might have 5 to 8, a large pricing section with multiple tiers might have 40 or more.
Finding the Right Field
If the labels aren't obvious, click into a field, the corresponding element highlights on the canvas. The current value shown in the field also usually gives it away.
To go the other direction, click an element on the canvas (hold Ctrl or Cmd to select inside the widget) and the matching field highlights in the Content tab.
Editing Each Field
Every field updates the canvas live, no save step needed to preview.
Text
One Text field for every piece of text in the design, in the same order as the page, for example Sign In, Welcome Back, Email Address.
Links
One Link Text and URL pair for every link, for example Forgot password? and Create Account.
Links can also be attached to a whole non-anchor element, like turning an entire card <div> into a click target, not just individual <a> tags.
Media
One picker for every image, icon, or background image in the design.
See Slots for the full field reference.
Binding to Dynamic Data
Every field has a dynamic data icon (the database icon) on its right edge, click it to open Elementor's dynamic data picker. Common bindings:
| Field | Common dynamic data sources |
|---|---|
| Text | Post title, post excerpt, author name, ACF text field, user display name |
| URL | Post permalink, ACF URL field, term archive URL |
| Image | Post featured image, author avatar, ACF image field, WooCommerce product image |
When a Composer widget with bound fields is used in a Theme Builder template (a single post template, for example), every bound field automatically shows the data for the post currently being viewed, one widget design serves every post.
Tips for Widgets with Many Fields
- 30+ fields make the Content tab long. Collapse the Text, Links, or Media sections you're not currently editing.
- Can't find the field for something you see on the canvas? Click the element first, then check which field highlights in the Content tab.
- A field you expected doesn't appear. If the text is written as Twig, like
{{ post.title }}, it has no field on purpose, edit it in the Code tab. Otherwise, the element may use a technique the extractor doesn't recognize, CSS-generated content via::before/::after, or text rendered by JavaScript after load. These need Developer Mode to edit.
What the Content Tab Can't Change
The Content tab updates content values. They can't add or remove elements, change an element's type (turning a <p> into an <h2>), or change layout or structural properties. For that, use Developer Mode or AI Chat.
Use Cases
- Filling a freshly converted design with real content, field by field, right after a Figma or AI conversion lands.
- Turning one widget into a dynamic template, bind its fields so a single Composer design serves every post in a Theme Builder template.
- Navigating a widget with many fields, click an element on the canvas to jump straight to its matching field in the Content tab.
