AI Image Tools in AI Website Creator
Remove backgrounds, fill a masked area, expand an image or erase objects using the AI Website Creator image tools.
AI image tools change an existing picture rather than create a whole section. Choose a tool based on what you need to change: the background, a selected area, an unwanted object or the edges of the image.
At a Glance
| Tool | What it does | Description required? | Plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remove Bg | Cuts out the background | No | Studio or Agency |
| Generative Fill | Generates content inside a painted mask | Yes | Studio or Agency |
| Expand Image | Adds content beyond the image edges | Optional | Studio or Agency |
| Magic Eraser | Removes a painted object and fills the gap | Optional | Studio or Agency |
Remove Bg is a local background-removal operation and costs no AI tokens. Generative Fill, Expand Image and Magic Eraser use AI credits. Their reservations are estimates, with actual usage reconciled after the request. Crop is also local and belongs to the image preview, not the AI Tools grid.
Open AI Tools
Select a picture in the Design Editor and open Edit Image. Find AI Tools below the image controls. Select the tool you need. An eligible plan and an image selection are required. Wait for the current operation to finish before starting another.
Remove Bg
Click Remove Bg to cut out the picture's background. There is no brush selection or prompt for this tool. Review the edges of the subject afterward, particularly fine details such as hair, foliage or transparent objects.
Use this tool for a product or portrait that should sit on the section's existing background. It removes the picture's background; it does not change the section's background color.
Generative Fill
Paint the area to change
Click Generative Fill. Paint over the part of the picture you want to replace. The mask tells the model where the edit belongs. Adjust Brush for smaller or larger details. Use Clear to remove the mask and start again.
Describe the replacement
Enter a description of what should fill the painted area. Generative Fill requires a description and a painted area. Include material, lighting and perspective when they matter.
Generate the fill
Click Generate Fill. Wait for the edit to finish, then inspect the result in the section. Check that shadows and edges fit the surrounding image.
A small leafy plant in a matte ceramic pot on the desk. Match the existing window light, camera angle and soft shadow. Keep the rest of the room unchanged.
Magic Eraser
Choose Magic Eraser, then paint the unwanted object. Keep the mask close to the object while including its shadow if you also want that removed. Use Clear to redraw the selection.
The description is optional. Add context if you want the gap to continue a particular surface. Click Erase to run the edit.
Remove the painted object and continue the wooden tabletop, matching the existing grain, perspective and lighting.
Expand Image
Choose Expand Image when you need more scene around the current picture. This tool uses Expand by rather than a painted brush mask. It pads each side of the image and asks AI to fill the new area.
| Control | What it does | Default or limit |
|---|---|---|
| Expand by | Adds padding on each side | Initially 25%; range 10% to 50% |
| Description | Guides the new content | Optional |
| Expand | Runs the AI edit | Returns an expanded image |
For example, 25% padding on each side adds space on both the left and right, not just one extra strip. The section may still crop the expanded picture to its own shape. Review the layout before assuming all added content will be visible.
Extend the beach and pale sky naturally beyond the existing edges. Keep the horizon level and match the soft evening light. Do not add people, signs or buildings.
Mask Controls and Working Limits
| Control or limit | Generative Fill and Magic Eraser | Expand Image |
|---|---|---|
| Brush | Range 8 to 120; initially 40 | Not used |
| Clear | Clears the painted mask | Not used |
| Source working size | Image is reduced to a maximum 1024-pixel long edge for the editing canvas | Same initial working canvas; expansion adds padding |
| Required instruction | Fill needs a description; Eraser's is optional | Optional description |
These tools are not an upscaler. A large source photograph is prepared at the dialog's working resolution, so do not rely on the edit to preserve every original high-resolution detail.
Pick the Right Tool
Use Crop image to remove outer areas without generating new content. Use Generative Fill to replace something inside the picture. Use Magic Eraser to remove it. Use Expand Image when the image needs more surrounding scene. Use Remove Bg when the subject should stand alone.
