Codex to WordPress
Connect Codex to WordPress with UiChemy, using Codex to make the connection.
Codex is one of the four MCP clients UiChemy's dashboard generates ready-to-paste config for. Unlike the others, Codex uses TOML instead of JSON.
Why It Matters
A Codex build looks done, then you try to ship it. Codex hands you working code, but a website is something else, a domain you own, blocks you can edit, a CMS that grows. Left as-is, that gap shows up three ways:
- You build it twice. Getting Codex's code into WordPress usually means rebuilding it section by section, by hand.
- It stays static. It's frozen at whatever placeholder text Codex wrote, no blog posts, no products, no CMS data flowing in.
- It isn't yours. A shared Codex artifact link isn't a website, no domain of your own, no CMS, no plugins, no SEO layer.
UiChemy closes that gap in one push: it rebuilds the same design as native WordPress blocks, on your domain, in the builder you already use.
How It Works
The steps. Converting a Codex site to WordPress takes five steps.
Create your website in Codex
Work however you already do in Codex. Prompt it, iterate, and stop when the site looks right.
Install the UiChemy plugin
Add it to your WordPress site and paste the Connection Link once. Free to start.
Connect the UiChemy MCP
Add the UiChemy MCP to Codex once, or any WordPress MCP you already run (Novamira, WPVibe, Elementor Angie). It remembers the connection for every conversion after that.
Convert to WordPress
Ask Codex to transfer that design to WordPress. Every page lands native and fully editable.
Example prompt: "Build my website in HTML, CSS and JS. Then connect to my WordPress over the UiChemy MCP and, using UiChemy Composer, move the whole site in: recreate every page section by section; put the header, footer and any blog/archive/single templates into the Theme Builder; keep colors, typography and spacing as global styles; import native and editable in Elementor (or Gutenberg). When done, list the pages you created."
Edit in UiChemy Composer
Restyle, rewrite and rearrange any section visually or by prompt. No code needed.

Connecting the MCP Server (Step 3 in Detail)
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Config format | TOML |
| Save path | .codex/config.toml |
Config, paste this in yourself:
[mcp_servers.your-site-name-uichemy-mcp]
command = "npx"
args = ["-y", "@automattic/mcp-wordpress-remote"]
[mcp_servers.your-site-name-uichemy-mcp.env]
WP_API_URL = "https://yoursite.com/index.php?rest_route=/uichemy/v2/mcp"
WP_API_USERNAME = "admin"
WP_API_PASSWORD = "your-application-password"
Save to ~/.codex/config.toml.
Prefer not to edit the file yourself? On the UiChemy dashboard, switch Prompt / Config to Prompt and copy the ready-made prompt instead, paste it into Codex and it edits its own config file for you, keeping it valid TOML and any existing tables intact.
Always use the exact path UiChemy's dashboard shows at the time you connect, not one from memory, tool vendors can move where this file lives between versions.
Benefits
- Simplest, safest flow. One plugin, one connection, then prompt it to publish, fewer moving parts than a copy-paste stack of exported code, a code plugin, and patch-it-by-hand fixes.
- Lightweight output. Clean, semantic HTML with none of the wrapper-heavy bloat typical page builders add, pages stay fast.
- Your choice of builder. Publish into Elementor or Gutenberg today, with Bricks coming soon, your build lands as native, editable elements in whichever you already use.
What You Get
Once your Codex build lands in WordPress through UiChemy, you unlock the rest of the platform, not just a page:
- Client-editable, role-controlled. Hand off to clients and teammates, they edit visually with a full role manager, no code required. See Role Manager Overview.
- Dynamic content and loops. Bind live data and repeat layouts, post grids, product listings, anything data-driven, instead of static placeholder text.
- ACF and custom fields. Structured content with Advanced Custom Fields, ready to wire into any template.
- Theme Builder. Design headers, footers, archives, and single templates that apply site-wide. See Theme Builder Overview.
- Forms and SEO. Native forms plus RankMath or Yoast, with schema, meta tags, and XML sitemaps built in.
- White-label and long-term CMS. Rebrand the editor and grow on a real CMS for years, instead of staying frozen at launch.
