Which Should I Use: AI Express Mode or Classic Mode?
Compare AI Express Mode and Classic Mode to decide which conversion approach fits your project.
UiChemy gives you two ways to convert a Figma design. This page helps you pick the right one.
Quick answer:
- Want the conversion finished for you, including styling and motion? Use AI Express Mode.
- Want to map every layer yourself for maximum control? Use Classic Mode.
Both work best on optimized, auto-layout designs, and both draw from the same Credits balance.
AI Express Mode
You don't tag layers. AI Express reads and maps every layer for you, and finishes styling, motion, responsive layout, and the header and footer during the conversion. Results are close, though not always perfect on complex layouts, so everything lands as editable output you can adjust.
Best when you want a finished page quickly and are happy to fine-tune the result.
Classic Mode
You tag your Figma layers yourself to map each one to the widget you want, then finish styling, states, and motion by hand. Because it runs on a fixed algorithm against an optimized design, the output is more predictable, and manual tagging gives you pixel-level control.
Best when you want full, predictable control over every element.
Side by side
| Classic Mode | AI Express Mode | |
|---|---|---|
| Layer tagging | Manual, gives pixel-level control | None, layers are read and mapped for you |
| Styling, states, motion | By hand after export | Applied during conversion |
| Responsive layout | Responsive manager | Responsive on your builder's breakpoints |
| Header and footer | Separated and uploaded by hand | Handled during conversion |
| Globals | Synced | Synced as reusable classes |
| Output | Native widgets | Native, editable Composer |
| Predictability | Predictable | Close, depends on the design |

The Next Choice, Inside Your Mode
Picking a mode isn't the last decision, each one has its own follow-up choice once you start converting:
- In AI Express Mode, Full Setup vs. Page Only, whether to also set up global styles and a header/footer, or just the page itself.
- In Classic Mode, Direct Import vs. downloading a JSON file, whether to push the design straight to your connected site, or export it manually instead.
