# General Settings

Configure how UiChemy behaves on your site: front-end editing, editor mode, builder registration, the MCP server, form storage, and uninstall behavior.

Configure how UiChemy behaves on your site. Changes here affect every Composer widget and every user on the site.

### Opening Settings

Go to **UiChemy → Settings** in your WordPress dashboard. Settings are split into five tabs in the left sidebar, grouped under three labels:

| Sidebar label | Tabs | What's inside |
|---|---|---|
| **Editor** | **General**, **Builders** | How the editor behaves, and which builders get the Composer |
| **Connect** | **Integrations** | The MCP server for AI clients |
| **Site** | **Data and privacy**, **About** | Form storage, uninstall behavior, and your plugin version |

Looking for one option? Type in the **Search settings** box at the top of the sidebar, for example **editor**, **MCP**, or **forms**.

### General

How the editor works on the live page and inside the Composer.

**Front end**

<ExpandableGroup>
  <Expandable title="Front-end editor (Default: On)" default-open="false">
    Edit pages right on the live site. Logged-in editors can open the UiChemy editor directly on the published page. When off, the front-end editor never loads and editing only happens in the builder screens.
  </Expandable>

  <Expandable title="Front-end save (Default: Manual)" default-open="false">
    How edits on the live page are saved. **Manual** holds your changes until you press **Save** in the page toolbar. **Autosave** saves each change a moment after you make it. Options: **Manual** / **Autosave**.
  </Expandable>

  <Expandable title="Scroll timeline (Default: On)" default-open="false">
    Retime scroll animations on the page. Shows the scroll-animation timeline on the live page, so editors can see and adjust every scroll-driven animation. It only appears on pages that actually have one. See [Editor Tab](/uichemy-composer/uichemy-widget/editor-tab) for how to use it.
  </Expandable>
</ExpandableGroup>

**Composer**

<ExpandableGroup>
  <Expandable title="Editor mode (Default: Both)" default-open="false">
    Which tabs the Composer shows. Options: **Both** / **Design** / **Developer**.

    | Mode | What editors get |
    |---|---|
    | **Both** | Editors can switch between Design (Chat + Editor) and Developer (Chat + Editor + Code) |
    | **Design** | Locks the editor to Chat + Editor and hides the switch |
    | **Developer** | Locks the editor to Chat + Editor + Code and hides the switch |

    <Callout kind="tip">
    Locking to **Design** is a good way to hand a site to a client without showing them the Code tab. See [Design vs Developer Mode](/uichemy-composer/concepts/design-vs-developer-mode).
    </Callout>
  </Expandable>

  <Expandable title="Composer theme (Default: Dark)" default-open="false">
    Light or dark for the Composer panel only. Your builder's own theme isn't affected, and this one saves straight away, with no **Save changes** needed. Options: **Dark** / **Light**.
  </Expandable>
</ExpandableGroup>

### Builders

Which page builders get the Composer. Under **Page builders**, each builder has its own switch, and all three are on by default.

| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| **Elementor** | Adds the Composer widget to Elementor's widget panel |
| **Gutenberg** | Adds the Composer block to the block inserter |
| **Bricks** | Adds the Composer element to the Bricks builder panel |

<Callout kind="tip">
Turn on only the builders you actually use. Turning one off doesn't affect the others, and doesn't touch Composers already on your pages.
</Callout>

### Integrations

Under **AI clients**:

**MCP server** (Default: On). Let AI clients build with UiChemy. AI tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Codex connect to your site through this. Leave it on to use [AI to WordPress](/ai-to-wordpress/set-up), and turn it off if you don't use any AI tools.

### Data and privacy

What UiChemy stores on your site.

**Forms**

**Store form submissions** (Default: On). Keep entries under [Form Submissions](/uichemy-plugin/forms/submissions). Turn it off if you don't need to keep submissions on your site, for example if you only send them by email.

**Uninstall**

**Delete all data on uninstall** (Default: Off). Removes UiChemy's options and stored submissions for good when you delete the plugin from **Plugins → Installed Plugins**. Your pages and posts, including anything built with Theme Builder templates, are never touched. Leave it off if you might reinstall UiChemy later.

<Callout kind="warning">
This cannot be undone. If you turn this on and then delete the plugin, all your UiChemy settings and submissions are gone for good. Export any form submissions you need first.
</Callout>

### About

Under **About UiChemy**:

- **Plugin** shows the version you have installed, for example **Version 5.2.5**.
- **What's new** opens the Welcome screen with the latest features.

### Saving Your Changes

As soon as you change a setting, a bar appears showing how many changes are waiting, for example **1 unsaved change**.

- Click **Save changes** to apply them. The bar then shows **Settings saved**.
- Click **Discard** to undo them.

**Composer theme** is the only exception, it saves straight away.

### Frequently Asked Questions

<ExpandableGroup>
  <Expandable title="Does turning off a builder remove the Composers already on my pages?" default-open="false">

  </Expandable>

  <Expandable title="What does Delete all data on uninstall remove?" default-open="false">
    UiChemy's options and stored form submissions, once the plugin is deleted from **Plugins → Installed Plugins**. Your pages and posts, including anything built with Theme Builder templates, are never removed.
  </Expandable>

  <Expandable title="How do I stop clients from seeing the Code tab?" default-open="false">

  </Expandable>

  <Expandable title="I can't find a setting. Where is it?" default-open="false">
