# MCP Tools Reference

What your AI tool can actually do once it's connected to your site over MCP, why it matters, how it works, and the exact capability behind every request.

Once an AI tool like Claude or Cursor is connected to your site (see [Set up UiChemy MCP](/ai-to-wordpress/set-up)), you don't run commands, you describe what you want in plain English: "build a pricing page with three tiers," "change my site's accent color to navy," "show me my last 10 form submissions." Your AI tool matches that request to one of the real capabilities below and calls it directly.

<Callout kind="info">
This connection is included in **Free**, no Pro required. See [Free vs Pro](/uichemy-composer/getting-started/free-vs-pro).
</Callout>

You don't need to memorize any of this to use MCP, your AI tool discovers what's available on its own. This page is for a different, useful question: **exactly what is my AI tool able to touch on my site?** Everything below is scoped to building and configuring with UiChemy, pages, templates, styles, forms, media, and site setup. It can't install other plugins, change unrelated WordPress settings, or reach anything outside this list.

### Use Cases

- **Building a whole site from a single conversation**, describe pages, templates, and branding to your AI tool instead of clicking through the admin for each one.
- **Making quick global changes**, ask your AI tool to update a brand color, a nav menu, or a page's SEO metadata without opening the relevant screen yourself.
- **Auditing a site you didn't build**, ask for a structured overview, a quality check, or a screenshot before making changes to unfamiliar content.

### A Technical Note

The "real capability" column above mixes two overlapping systems on purpose, an older set of individually-named tools (the ones written as `snake_case`, like `get_globals_css`) and a newer WordPress-native Abilities API grouped into categories (the ones just called "ability," like `forms` or `design-system`). Both expose the same underlying features, and every AI client automatically uses whichever one it supports, you never have to choose between them.
