# Export to WordPress

Send your finished project to WordPress, where it opens in Composer.

<Callout kind="info">
**Phase 4 of 4:** **Scope** → **Sitemap** → **Design** → You are here: **Export**. Your design is ready. Export sends it directly to your WordPress site.
</Callout>

Once your design is ready in the Design Editor, export it to WordPress with a few clicks. AI Website Creator packages your entire project (pages, sections, content, and styles) and makes it available for import inside WordPress via the UiChemy plugin, where it opens in Composer.

## Supported Export Formats

AI Website Creator imports into **Elementor**. **Gutenberg** import is coming soon.

| Format | What You Get |
|--------|-------------|
| **Elementor** | Full page layouts ready to edit in Elementor |
| **Gutenberg** (Coming soon) | Block-based layouts for the WordPress block editor |

## Use Cases

- **Handing off a finished design to a developer or client's own hosting.** You get native Elementor pages, not a static export or locked image.
- **Re-exporting after revisions.** Go back to the Design Editor, make changes, and import the updated version without overwriting existing WordPress content.

## Step 1: Download the Plugin

From the Design Editor, click **Export** in the top-right corner, next to the Preview, Share, and Add comments icons. A modal titled **"Export in WordPress"** opens with two tabs, **WordPress** and **Other**.

The **WordPress** tab shows a preview of the plugin and three steps: download the UiChemy WordPress plugin, install it and log in with your UiChemy account, then import your project into Elementor (Gutenberg import is coming soon). Click **Download Plugin** to get the ZIP file, or **Read Docs** to open this page.

Switching to **Other** retitles the modal **"Export in Other"**. It lets you vote for a platform you'd like UiChemy to support next, React, Bricks, Divi, Gutenberg Core, Webflow, Framer, or Wix, or check **Other** and type your own under **Platform Name**, then click **Submit Request**, or **Cancel** to close without voting.

    - Click **Allow**, wait for it to show **"Authorizing..."**, and you're sent back to WordPress, now showing your projects under the **AI Website Creator** tab.

Below the sign-in prompt, three icons summarize what you're getting: **AI-generated sites**, **One-click import**, and **Fully editable**.

<Callout kind="info">
**Not logged in yet?** Step 3 (importing your project) only becomes available once this login completes. If the AI Website Creator tab still shows "Connect your UiChemy account" instead of your projects, finish this step first.
</Callout>

## Step 3: Import Your Project

Builder and page selection happen here, inside the plugin.

### Select Your Project

Your exported projects appear in the **AI Website Creator** tab, with a **Search projects** bar to find one by name. Click the project you want to import. Haven't exported anything yet? The tab shows **"No projects yet"**, export from the Design Editor first.

<Callout kind="tip">
Use the same email and password you use to log in at [app.uichemy.com](https://app.uichemy.com/). The plugin uses the same account to match your exported projects.
</Callout>

### Choose Your Builder

A **"Choose Your Builder"** popup opens: "Select the builder you want to import this website into." Select **Elementor**, then click **Next**. **Gutenberg** is shown as **Coming soon** and can't be selected yet.

### Select What to Import

The **"Select What to Import"** screen lists every page from your project, grouped into tabs:

- **All**, everything at once.
- **Static Pages**, your regular content pages (for example, Home, Menu, About Us).
- **Theme Builder**, templates like Blog Detail Page, Search Results Page, and Author Page.
- **Legal Pages**, Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

Each tab shows a count (for example, "Static Pages 9"), and a counter in the top right tracks your total selection (for example, "17 of 17 Pages Selected"). Use the **Search pages...** box to find one by name.

Each group has its own checkbox to select or clear every page in it at once, plus an expand arrow to show or hide its individual pages. Every page has its own checkbox, so you can fine-tune the selection within a group too.

### Advanced Configurations

An **"Advanced Configurations"** section, collapsed by default, adds setup options beyond page selection:

- **Required Plugins**, plugins your project needs (for example, Elementor), shown with a checkmark.
- **A recommended theme** (for example, "Nexter WP Theme"), with a note: "For the best experience, the [theme] is recommended. Feel free to skip it if you're already running a lightweight, bloat-free theme."
- **Reset Previous Content Before Import**, an opt-in checkbox: "Your current content moves to draft, not deleted."
- **SEO, Performance, and Security** options, marked **Coming Soon**, not yet available.

Click **Back** to return to the builder choice, or **Import [N] pages** (the count matches your current selection) to start.

### Run the Import

An **"Importing your design"** screen tracks progress with a percentage bar and four phases, each marked **Waiting** or **Done**:

1. **Installed Plugins & Theme**, adding the theme and required plugins.
2. **Importing Site Content**, bringing in media, posts, menus, and styles.
3. **Setting Up Pages & Layout**, building each page from your design.
4. **Finalizing Settings**, applying plugin and theme configuration.

Each page is built in your chosen builder as it completes, and lands as an editable Composer.

### Import Complete

Once every phase finishes, a **"Your website is ready and live"** screen appears with a **"[N] hours saved"** badge. Click **Back to Projects** to import another project, or **Visit Site** to open your imported design live in your browser, editable in Elementor.

<div style="border: 4px solid transparent; border-radius: 16px; background: linear-gradient(135deg, #FD6A35, #FEA686) border-box; overflow: hidden; margin: 1.5rem auto; max-width: 640px;">

</div>
<p style="text-align: center; font-size: 0.875rem; color: var(--text-color-secondary, #6b7280); margin-top: 0.5rem;"><em>Your website is ready and live, with Back to Projects and Visit Site</em></p>

## Troubleshooting

<ExpandableGroup>
  <Expandable title="The plugin won't install" default-open="false">
    Upload the ZIP file exactly as downloaded, don't unzip it first. Go to **Plugins > Add Plugin > Upload Plugin**, choose the file, and click **Install Now**. If WordPress says the file is too large, ask your host to raise the upload limit.
  </Expandable>

  <Expandable title="The AI Website Creator tab still says Connect your UiChemy account" default-open="false">
    The login didn't finish. Click **Log in to continue**, sign in with the same email and password you use at [app.uichemy.com](https://app.uichemy.com/), then click **Allow** on the **"Secure sign-in to UiChemy"** screen and wait for **"Authorizing..."** to send you back.
  </Expandable>

  <Expandable title="My project isn't in the list, or it says No projects yet" default-open="false">
    Export the project from the Design Editor first, it only appears in the plugin after that. Check that you're logged in with the same UiChemy account you used to build it, and use **Search projects** to find it by name. Still missing? Log out of the plugin and log back in to refresh the list.
  </Expandable>

  <Expandable title="A step failed during the import" default-open="false">
    The step shows **Failed** with a **Retry** button. Click **Retry** to run just that step again, there's no need to start the whole import over.
  </Expandable>

  <Expandable title="The import stopped partway, or says the background worker was killed" default-open="false">
    This usually means your host ran out of PHP memory or hit a time limit. Click **Retry** on the failed step. If it keeps happening, ask your host to raise the PHP memory limit to **256M**, or import fewer pages at a time from **Select What to Import**.
  </Expandable>

  <Expandable title="A plugin or theme couldn't be installed" default-open="false">
    You'll see **"Could not download this plugin."** or **"Installation did not finish successfully."** Click **Retry**. If it still fails, install that plugin or theme yourself from **Plugins > Add Plugin**, then run the import again.
